Poor Snail had an univited guest arrive last week. She's had enough of England now and will be returning very soon to her Wanderings.

  1. Hi Anne and Olly
Has the JCB done much damage? What a bugger!

Joe and I met you when we were both moored at Whittlesey ( The tug narrowboat called Yarwood) and we talked about going to France maybe. We were of the mind to get a Dutch barge but you were both convinced that we would be fine in Yarwood... well you have set us thinking and we are starting to do some research so any pointers for continental newbies would be most welcome!!

    kind regards
    Lesley and Joe

  2. There's a months repair work that Fox's will start on in 10 days time, at which point we will be homeless, a tad worrying!
Very happy to answer any questions about boating in Mainland Europe but don't know how to give you our mobile no. or email address privately. Can we 'pm' you on a blog??

    1. You could send me your email address via my blog. I will get the message but I won't publish it so it stays private.
      regards
      Lesley

  3. Anne, I am worried about you two. Homeless again...:-(( Can you stay with your daughter for any of the time? Alternatively won't the insurance company pay for a hire boat while you have nowhere. That would seem the reasonable thing to do, wouldn't it? After all, they do it for cars, and with Oll's health problems, surely there is some help offered there? Go and speak to your local council too...maybe they can give you some accommodation for the month?

  5. Thank you for your concern. The owner of the JCB (and the mooring here) agreed verbally to lend us his narrowboat for the month. We'll put it on our mooring while Snail's at the boatyard.
However, we have been trying to talk to him about paying our uninsured losses and to confirm this arrangement but he is proving to be very elusive, not answering emails either so we're not quite there yet.

  6. Hi Sue and Andy.
Hope you've had a better 12 months than us! Can't wait to return to Europe when all this is sorted. Planning to be back by October at the latest so perhaps see you around and catch up? Don't know how to give you our email address privately on here, do you?

  8. Hi Anne, I'm a bit late back here again. I'm glad at least you'll have a boat to stay on while Snail is being fixed, but really hope you get the other losses sorted out. What a worry for you. I'm so sorry :( Can't wait till you come back...

  10. Hi Val.
All the damaged steel work's been replaced above and below w'line. Now in paintshop.
Lots of cleaning to do when we eventually get back on board. The black angle grinder dust has seeped in through the boat. Grrr!
Deciding on Wednesday whether to buy an historic butty and bring her back too and work as an 'English food' business. Trying to move forward with life!
