We have an appointment with the monks of StSixtus in Belgium to buy a crate of their beer, the 'best in the world', and very difficult to obtain as the monks refuse to increase production in spite of the demand. Too far by pushbike from Bergues so it's off with the Enfield. After a ride through glorious countryside, we arrive back at the boat with our much sought-after 24 bottles of Westvleteren beer still in one piece, if a little shaken.

  1. Thanks for the answer about the lock. Will have to investigate that one too! Great surprise and pleasure to see the Snail in Ieper today. We set off to go to Bergues but ended up in Ieper instead and cam across Snail in the harbour. Left you a note under your mat! We guessed you were probably off climbing a tower in the town ;-) sorry we missed you, but will hopefully connect in the future sometime. Still have to get to Bergues!

  2. Oi that was silly of me! I just assumed you weren't on board. A little knock on your cabin would have done.
Anyway, we had a good time in Ieper, exploring the old and never completed canal Komen-Ieper, the mouth of which is across from where you were moored.
If you are still there, go see. Interesting!
